Healthcare aide killed in SE Houston home shooting on Panay Drive

A healthcare aide in her 40s was fatally shot at a home in the 11500 block of Panay Drive in southeast Houston around 1 p.m. Monday, Houston police said. Investigators said a 90-year-old man visiting his 87-year-old friend’s home allegedly shot and killed the friend’s aide. The aide’s boyfriend, also about 40, followed the older man into the garage, where another shot was fired; the 90-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the head and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Detectives were still determining whether the wound was self-inflicted or from the boyfriend’s gun. The boyfriend was detained for a statement; no charges were immediately announced.
