Man shot at a park near Waugh Dr and Spotts Park in Washington Corridor; shooter unknown

A 31-year-old man was shot late Tuesday night, around 10:30 p.m., and ran to an office building at 55 Waugh Drive, near South Heights Boulevard just north of Spotts Park and Buffalo Bayou, to get help. A security guard saw him running from the far side of the building and called 911. Houston police said he was hit in the side, toward his back near the lower ribs, apparently from close range. He told officers he was at a nearby park when it happened but did not see who fired or know why. Several parks are in the direction he described, and police have not pinned down where the shooting actually happened. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition. No suspect has been identified, and HPD's Major Assaults unit is investigating. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
