Security guard and customer shoot each other at Chinatown grocery store after dispute over dog
Two men were hospitalized Friday night after gunfire broke out inside Great Wall Supermarket in the 9800 block of Bellaire Boulevard in Houston's Chinatown. Houston police say the trouble began just after 8 p.m. when a security guard told a man in his 20s and his girlfriend that their dog wasn't allowed inside the store for health reasons. An argument followed, and the man and the guard exchanged shots. An officer responding to a disturbance call heard the gunfire, called for backup, and found both men wounded; both were taken to a hospital in critical condition and went into surgery. The woman and the dog were not hurt, and police said no suspects were at large and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
