Two-alarm fire damages 12 units at SW Houston apartment complex; dozens displaced

Fire broke out around 2 p.m. Friday at The Athena apartments, 10101 Forum Park Drive, between Bissonnet Street and Sugar Branch Drive just east of Beltway 8. Houston firefighters said it started on a second-floor balcony, possibly where someone was grilling, and strong winds pushed the flames into the roof. The fire went to two alarms and was declared under control around 2:45 p.m. Twelve units were damaged and an estimated 40 to 50 residents were displaced, with the Red Cross helping them. No one was hurt, and the cause is still under investigation. Source: FOX 26, KPRC 2, ABC13
