Man dies after kitchen fire at Cattails Lane apartment near Pearland

A 45-year-old man died after a kitchen fire at an apartment at 6313 Cattails Lane near Pearland, Houston Fire Department officials said. A neighbor reported smelling smoke; crews found light smoke that did not spread to other units. Firefighters found the man unconscious inside, started CPR, and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
