45 neglected Chihuahuas rescued from mobile home on Edgeworth Street in north Houston
Harris County Constable Precinct 1's Animal Cruelty Unit rescued 45 Chihuahua-mix dogs from a mobile home in the 9900 block of Edgeworth Street in north Houston on Tuesday as part of an ongoing animal-neglect investigation. Constable Alan Rosen called conditions inside the home "terrible," saying many of the dogs were pink and hairless from infections. One dog was in critical condition and was treated at the scene, and four chickens and a pig were also taken from the property. The Houston SPCA is caring for the animals. No charges have been filed yet; detectives will review the case with prosecutors. Suspected animal cruelty can be reported to the Houston SPCA hotline at 713-869-7722.
